A Little Princess

Book Design and Illustration

With the goal of creating a fresh design for Frances Hodgson Burnett’s A Little Princess, my solution was to create a design that draws on Victorian design elements and typographic flourishes from the time of the book's publication, pairing these with modern illustrations to draw the eye of modern kids. Together, these give the book a whimsical, sensitive intentionality, which makes the design one that would have staying power on any bookshelf. This project highlights my skills in illustration, hand lettering, and typesetting.

Little Red Riding Hoodie

Interactive Web Design, Illustration

An online interactive experience to help introduce the complex topic of climate change and sustainability to middle-grade (grades 4-7) children, this project is a digital storybook based on the fairy-tale Little Red Riding Hood. Using a mixed-media approach to storytelling, I created dynamic, lightly animated scenes for each page of the story, employing India ink to give the illustrations an expressive, bold, and sensitive feel. Interactive elements keep the user engaged and offer the option to listen to the story or to read it independently.
