The Boredom Survival Kit (B.S. Kit) is a self-entertainment toolkit designed to help young adults navigate periods of disengagement when familiar activities lose their appeal or accessibility. Grounded in the understanding that self-entertainment is a learned skill shaped by habit and environment, the project addresses the tendency toward repetitive, often screen-based behaviours with limited variety.
Research methods, including card sorting, cultural probes, and user interviews, informed the development of a structured yet flexible system that encourages exploration across creative, physical, and mindful activities.
The final outcome consists of 90 activity cards paired with a 15-minute hourglass, supporting intentional engagement and time awareness.Through a balance of bold visual design and clear organization, the kit promotes independent interaction while maintaining accessibility.
The project positions design as a tool for behavioural guidance, translating research insights into a tangible, user-centred system that encourages variety and sustained engagement.
